Susan Nothnagle

Musician / Handbell Choir Leader

Mrs. Nothnagle, a native of Berryville, VA, received her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Longwood College in Farmville, VA and successfully taught in public schools for 29 years. The bands she directed consistently earned Excellent and Superior ratings and received numerous outstanding achievement awards. Susan began teaching at Fluvanna County High School, Palmyra, in 1979. With 18 years in the Albemarle County Public School System, 9 years at Jackson P. Burley Middle School, her public school teaching career culminated at Monticello High School.

Mrs. Nothnagle enjoys playing wind instruments as well as the piano and organ. She has accompanied the Fluvanna Swing Choir, Fork Union Military Academy Choir, Monticello High School Chorus, the Fluvanna Community Singers, 'Just Us' and many other performing groups.

Susan served as organist and instrumental ensemble director for Berryville Presbyterian Church; pianist, choir accompanist and youth director at Fork Union Baptist Church and organist, pianist and choir director at Byrd Chapel in Kent Store, before serving as organist, choir accompanist and Bell Choir Director at Palmyra Methodist Church.
